Around the world

The Toronto gang has been on the move this autumn. The contingent from 54 Leacock has just returned from some adventures in Seattle. Though everyone enjoyed the thundering magnificence of Snoqualmie Falls (familiar to fans of Twin Peaks), an unexpected morning of sunshine on Alki Beach, some very tasty meals at Restaurant Zoë, Monsoon and Shiro’s Sushi, the attraction that indisputably generated the most excitement was a visit to Uwajimaya, the Wholefoods of Asian grocery stores. Meanwhile, the Chao, Yue and Lee branches have completed a grand tour of China including Beijing, Huangshan (Yellow Mountains) and Hong Kong – keep an eye on this link, as photos will continue to be posted over the next little while. You will need to contact Arnold for an invitation to view these particular albums. But don’t be confused, you will still need an invitation from the main 54leacock flickr account to access most of the photo links on this site.

25 for $25 in Seattle

November is one of our favourite times of the year in Seattle. All month, Sunday through Thursday, 25 restaurants around the city are featuring a $25 prix fixe three-course dinner. Brasa and Restaurant Zoë are old “25 for $25” favourites as they always offer an interesting selection of dishes from their regular menus (unlike some places which have limited and somewhat uninspired 25 for $25 choices compared to their regular menu items). We’re also quite excited about new additions like Campagne (the proper restaurant upstairs, which should be very good judging from our more frequent visits to the café downstairs) and Greenlake’s neighbourhood bistro Eva. Check out the full list of participants here.

Welcome to 54Leacock!

Now that most of us have Internet access, we figured this would be a convenient way to disseminate information to the vast network of family members distributed around the world. We envision many indispensable nuggets making their way onto the site (e.g., photos, announcements, recipes and a general-purpose message board). So, feel free to send us suggestions, and check back often for new stuff! In the immediate future, you should be expecting an email with your username and password for logging onto the site.
